Just a Nosebleed
When I first heard Buzz cry, I figured it was the same as always. Jedi was a little too rough with him, maybe slapped him on the back. I told Jedi to stop, play nice, and went about my business. I heard Buzz run into the front room, but still didn’t think anything of it. Usually, he just wants me to quickly comfort and reassure him before he goes back to chasing his brother.
I was in the middle of something that I thought was important at the time, but my god how stupid it all seems now, so I didn’t notice him right away. I could hear him next to me, still muffling tears, grabbing at my shirt. When I finally turned around, I saw blood.
Everywhere.
My heart sank.
And that’s when everything stopped. Nothing else was important. Nothing else mattered. My precious little boy. In a way that completely mortified and broke my heart. His face was streaked in red, his arms, hands, where he was grabbing at my shirt. I should have noticed it when he first needed me.
It was just a nosebleed. Jedi hit him and it was just a nosebleed. Just a nosebleed. I don’t care how many times I say it, it doesn’t seem like just a nosebleed. The biggest punishment Jedi can receive during the day is if I say I’m going to tell his father when he gets home, and you better believe I told him every minute detail that night.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s not just the nosebleed, it’s so much more. It’s tough to be everywhere at once, and everything for everyone. I have tears in my eyes thinking about similar situations that have happened here. Hang in there… I hope your day got better.

Oh, that’s so not a fail. It happens. If we jumped every time we heard our kids cry, nothing would get done. You can’t always know that it’s something serious.
Here’s to a long weekend.

Oh. That’s not a fail. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

@OHmommy, It was kind of an all over fail; Jedi failed by hitting him, I failed by not noticing, and Buzz’s nose failed altogether.

Yikes, there’s a first for everything I guess. I bet that was scary to turn around and see, though! Don’t be hard on yourself, though. Like you said, there are a million instances that sound just like that one every day! Only, not blood, usually. ;o)

We haven’t experienced this here yet but I know my day is coming. I think it happens to everyone whether or not they admit it is a different story.
