Mommyblogger: The Epitome
I don’t mean to embody the term “mommyblogger” heart and soul, but it seems that’s all I have to talk about. I’ve tried conjuring up something else, and it’s just not there. It’s either a story about motherhood or my kids or.. well…
Would you like to hear about my housecleaning efforts?
No?
Well, damn.
Mommy blogging it is, then!
10 years ago, I never would have thought this would be my life. My parents like to remind me, in their ever so subtle ways, that I never used to want children. Then again, I also wanted to be Madonna at one point in time. How we change.
Now, I’m a mommyblogger and that’s really alright with me. I spend my days urging “No!” so often it should be permanently tattooed across my forehead. As well as; Sit down! Get that out of your mouth! Off the table! Don’t hit your brother! I remind little ears to be careful, like it does a lot of good. I tell them they’ll be OK when they hurt themselves and make sure they take small bites of their chicken nuggets instead of jamming the entire thing in their mouth like a squirrel foraging for winter. I clean up messes and pick up toys, just to have to do it again 5 minutes later. I have worn a shirt that one of the kids has spit-up on for hours afterward. Buzz smears snot across my pant leg and I don’t give it another thought. Abby dribbles drool along my cheek and I simply wipe it off and continue on. I have dealt with more bodily fluids/functions than I ever thought possible, especially coming from someone else. While it may not define my life, it makes up a very large part of it. One that I never saw coming.

Hah, there’s nothing wrong with being a mommy blogger. I am holding it down for myself to not have kids, of course things always change. I love heairng about your kids though. They’re quite fun.

It’s the unexpected that always seems to stick. I also wouldn’t have expected being where I am now, ten years ago, but I’m here. Reveling in it for the most part

Sounds a lot like my life. On the most trying moments, I remind myself that these days aren’t going to last forever. Then I get all weepy and sentimental and crap… Ya just can’t win! ha!

There’s been so much hoopla about blogging without calling oneself a “Mommy Blogger”. As if defining oneself is going to limit your vocabulary and readers to only other mommy’s. I for one am proud to call myself a “Mommy Blogger”. I’m a mommy that blogs. I’m a blogger that is also Mommy. What’s the difference? I write about my life and right now my life is my child. I’m glad to hear someone else happily define themselves as a “Mommy Blogger” without feeling ashamed of it. Such a relief! You go girl!
