I remember the large platter with a scene straight from the sights of fall. There’s a rustic cabin amongst a backdrop of colorful autumn leaves and bare branches. It’s a durable platter that my mom would use to serve our Thanksgiving turkey, after a day spent cooking, baking, and preparing, the various aromas of a holiday feast filling my childhood home.
My mom recently moved from that home and is now in a new place with an oven that she’s never even turned on. Needless to say, the platter has been passed down to my hands. If we even knew where that platter is. Sadly, it must have been lost in the move.
As such, now is as good a time as any to make new memories. To start new traditions. And to get our home ready for the holidays.
While at Walmart, I picked up Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel, Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner as well as a pack of Windex® Original Glass Wipes. Be sure to check out the rebate offer, too, which will help you save more for more holiday memories!
Most of these cleaning supplies I like to keep on hand, anyway. Like Scrubbing Bubbles® Disinfectant Bathroom Cleaner. It’s hard telling what goes on in our bathroom, with its constant shuffle of users in and out, but Scrubbing Bubbles® helps suppress the mess and keeps whatever frightful germs may be lingering away.
And I’m never without Windex® Original Glass Wipes, which are great for easily getting rid of rogue fingerprints, leaving behind a sparkling shine.
With everything sparkling and clean, it’s time to focus on the table. While we may not have that Thanksgiving platter, we can still make it a fun Thanksgiving setting. And with our own personal touches, too. These Painted Drinking Glasses will make a great addition and modern touch that will make this Thanksgiving our own.
- 4 drinking glasses
- multi-surface acrylic paints in autumn colors
- rubbing alcohol
First, make sure your glasses are clean by wiping them down with alcohol. Once dry, get your paint ready. Since these are for our Thanksgiving table, I used colors associated with fall. Red, yellow, orange, and a tan. Load your paintbrush with paint and begin to make your design. I wanted just a simple kind of wave design, but you could get really intricate.
Once painted, let dry completely. You can either cure these naturally by letting them sit for 21 days or bake. To bake, set glasses in a cold oven. Heat to 350 degrees. Keep in the oven for 30 minutes, total time including time needed to preheat. Let cool completely before removing.
