Life with 3 kids is always busy, but this time of year is even busier. There’s so much to do and so little time to do it all. The last place I know I want to be is in the kitchen spending forever preparing our weeknight dinners. I want meals that are quick and easy so I can get in and out, along with filling and a little bit festive would be nice, too.
That’s why I’m always so happy to take help from the store. Walmart has such a great selection of ConAgra products that, along with other ingredients like fresh produce and bakery items, helps make dinner simple and delicious.
While at Walmart, I picked up cans of MANWICH, a staple in our house, and Original RO*TEL Tomatoes with Green Chiles as well as Rosarita Refried Beans. I also grabbed a bag of fresh baked bakery rolls, sliced olives, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, and a pound of ground hamburger.
We love fixing MANWICH for Sloppy Joes, but honestly we have it quite often. I thought Sloppy Joe Taco Bread Bowls would be a great twist, though! And I was right. Everyone loved them!
Start by scooping out the center of your bakery rolls. Pop them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes just to toast them up a bit.
Brown your hamburger, then drain and add MANWICH along with about ½ the can of RO*TEL. Also heat the Rosarita refried beans in the microwave for a couple of minutes. I used the vegetarian beans, since there’s already a lot of meat in this dish. Layer the beans then sloppy joe mix in the bread bowls.
Place in the oven again for about 10 more minutes or until bread is toasted. Top with your choice of additional RO*TEL, sliced olives, diced chives, sour cream, and shredded cheese. I love the festive colors here, with the red of the RO*TEL tomatoes and the green chives.
Like Christmas in Sloppy Joe Taco Bread Bowls! Eat with a fork or, if you’re around friends, just pick up and eat with your hands.

- 4 dinner rolls
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 10 oz can RO*TEL
- 8 oz. (1/2 can) MANWICH
- 8 oz (1/2 can) Rosarita Refried Beans
- sliced olives
- fresh chives - diced
- sour cream
- shredded cheese
- Preheat oven to 350. Scoop out inside of rolls. Place on baking sheet and toast in oven for about 10 minutes.
- Put ½ a can of refried beans in a microwavable bowl. Microwave for about 2 minutes.
- Brown hamburger, drain. Stir in half a can of MANWICH and about half the can of RO*TEL.
- Layer refried beans then MANWICH mix in rolls. Place back in the oven for another 10 minutes or until toasted.
- Set out sliced olives, diced chives, sour cream, shredded cheese (we used a Colby and Monterey Jack blend), and the rest of the RO*TEL for topping.
