Tax time! I know it’s always exciting when there’s a refund involved. But what are you doing to maximize your tax refund cash? So many things to get, so many places to go, and experiences to share with my kids. To make sure we get the most bang for our buck, now and months down the road, we’ve turned to Walmart Family Mobile.
Walmart Family Mobile not only has a great selection of phones, but they have jam-packed plans, too. We’ve been a WFM family for years, and I just recently picked up the Samsung Galaxy On5 for my son. Now on rollback at Walmart for $69, down from $119, it’s a great phone with all the bells and whistles that’s perfect for him.
Next, you have to pick a plan. This is easy. The Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan has Unlimited* Talk, Text, & Data which *includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE 2G. And you get a free movie credit on VUDU every month ($7 value)! All this for $49.88 per month, per line. Then, purchase a SIM Kit, now only $19.88. That’s it! Since Family Mobile bills you later, you only have to pay $19.88 when you sign up.
Gathered around a smart TV, ROKU(R), Chromecast(R), VUDU Spark(TM), or other compatible device, the free VUDU monthly movie credit will definitely be a great excuse for more family movie nights. It’s also a fun reason to stay home and save some of that tax cash. Especially when you can make any movie night an experience in itself with just a few creative touches. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures for memories, social media, and even grandma! She loves to see their happy faces.
In fact, with just a few printables and some delicious sugar cookies, my kids become the Star of the Show!

For our Star of the Show Family Movie Night viewing party, I first made up these replica Walk of Fame Star Printables that I then added my kids’ names to. Print on regular paper and add to any black frames you have around for a fun Hollywood Star effect. Who knows, maybe they’re a sign of what’s to come! Hollywood, here we come!

Since any good movie needs a cup of popcorn, I also printed a set of these super cute Star of the Show labels that go along with our theme that I then stuck on plastic cups. I used 2” diameter circle sticker label paper that you can get at Walmart, as well.
Popcorn isn’t quite enough, however. Thus, we also made a batch of Star of the Show Sugar Cookies! These cookies are darling and delicious, a winning combination. And they’re also easy to make, even with the homemade icing, too. That’s even better, yet.
For our Star of the Show Sugar Cookies, you’ll need to combine butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract. To that, add a mix of baking powder and flour. Here’s where the fun part begins, though, because you’ll need to play with your food. Since it’s a thick dough, the best way to get it all mixed together is with your hands on a clean counter. Knead until it all comes together. At that point, section off into workable batches. Roll out until the dough is about ¼” inch thick. Then, begin cutting shapes out of the dough with a star cookie cutter.
Place on a baking sheet and bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 7 minutes, or until just the slightest bit golden. While the cookies are baking, though, you can make the icing with powdered sugar, milk, light corn syrup, vanilla extract, and yellow food coloring. Pour icing mixture into a plastic sandwich, cutting just the smallest amount of tip from one corner. Trace around the edges of the cookies and fill.
Add star sprinkles. Because you can’t go wrong with star sprinkles.
And it’s a Star of the Show movie night that everyone will remember with my stars, of my show. This would also be a fun way to reward a good report card, an A on a test, or if they did something nice for a friend.
An award worthy performance, some might say. In that case, we better get our acceptance speech ready.
We’d like to thank our mom (thank you), dad, grandma and grandma, hair and makeup, my manager and producers and directors. Where would we ever be without your help. And it all started with Walmart Family Mobile.
